Guadalupe's Lament
Acrylic on canvas. My painting, "Guadalupe's Lament," is intended to show the anxieties of our present time through the symbolic fusion of the Virgen de Guadalupe and the Aztec goddess Tonatzin. Stylized, fragmented forms and sorrowful features are used to express a deep concern for the state of the country, particularly regarding fascism and democratic erosion. The cross clutched tightly amidst the chaos, embodies the enduring power of faith, resilience, and the strength of Raza's spirit.
